Wackiedk's News

So my new game "Tick Tock Train" finally got released on Gamezhero today.

Gamezhero have been so kind to sponsor the game, and that's why they have a 7-days exclusive on their site. After the timed exclusive ends I'll probably upload it here on Newgrounds, where it hopefully will drag a lot of traffic to Gamezhero.

It's my first time a game of mine has been sponsored and it has been a really fun process. Gamezhero did a good job telling me what I should change and how to improve the game.

If you want to play it now, you should check it out on Gamezhero.com.

In blowgunz puzzle we've been thinking a lot about, spammers and people who tries to abuse the publish ability, therefore we will encrypt our game. We've also been working on some features, to prevent people from cheating the rating system, and to prevent uncompleteable levels.

We've made a system that will remember and lock your voting, so you can't rate on the same level again. That will prevent bad levels to get a high rate, and good levels to get a low one.

To stop un-complete-able levels, you can only publish your level, if you've completed it yourself. So when you're in the level editor you will see a completeable sign, which can show either yes or no. If "yes" is represented it's completeable, and if "no" is represented... well you get the point.

When you work on a game, the process learns you to improve your game in different ways. Flaws and deficiencies appears as you develop the game, therefore it's most common that those flaws or deficiencies will get fixed. Same has happen for us in the work of Blowgunz puzzle.
We've realized that the speed of the pea, may change from computer to computer. Therefore we felt it necerssary to control the speed, for you to fully enjoy the game. You'll be able to change the speed from the option menu.

The shooting speed has a minimum of 0.1 and a maximum of 1.9. The green arrows in the picture are just a stand-in for the real graphic.

Hopefully Blowgunz puzzle will be done by the end of the year.

Flaws and deficiencies

In the latest post we've been writing a lot about the visual aspects. But for a change we've decided to write more about the technical aspects. For now we'll focus on the publish ability in blowgunz puzzle, and in the future we'll maybe cover how we make highscore games.
When you publish a level, it will send your level name and coordinates to our database. It will then send the name into a global table that keeps track of all oploaded levels. It will then have its own horizontal row with the name, date, rating and plays. This will make it easier to sort the published levels.

The script will also make a new table with the published name, which will keep track of all the coordinates for the level. Each horizontal row represent a bomb or blowgun, however if it's undefined there is nothing in that row. The number of item is beside the coordinates, for example in Numberbomb there is three bombs in the level.

So whenever you play a user level the script will load all the data and compile it into a level.

Technical Content

As we said in the last post, we promised that we were going to show you a video, that shows the use of the level editor and the user levels.

So therefore we keep our promise, and show you the video.

Blowgunz Puzzle - Publish Your Levels Easy from Wackiegames on Vimeo.

http://vimeo.com/2171841?pg=embed&sec=
2171841

In the video you can see how smooth it is to create your level, and how easy it is to publish it.
As you may have noticed the view and rating were not in the user levels. But don't worry we haven't deleted those features, we are just going to move them from the user levels section to the box in the start of every user levels. We removed it from the user levels, because it made the game really slow, when it had to recieve all those views and rates.

To the finishline of blowgunz puzzle, we just need to work with some technical issues to prevent unbeatable levels, and a few bugs.

If you have any questions regarding blowgunz puzzle you can write a comment and we will try to answer.

Blowgunz Puzzle - Video

We've been working really hard, tweaking and fixing the last thing on Blowgunz Puzzle. But we don't got any new content, since we're in the last phase of the game developing. However in the coming weeks we'll probably put up a extended video showing you the use of the Level Editor and User Levels.

So to show some content you haven't seen before, we thought it would be a good idea to dig up something we'd made on Nature Calls. It's a one of the environment we haven't showed you yet, it takes place in monastery with some evil guys.

New Environment

Posted by Wackiedk - October 24th, 2008

In the latest posts, we've been covering the level editor and the level select. Now it's time for the User levels in Blowgunz Puzzle.
The idea with user levels is to let you, have a place to share levels you've made. A place that will give you the ability to keep playing new and entertaining levels created from all around the globe. We came up with a concept, which would make it possible for you to browse the levels in three different categories, Latest, Top Rated and Random. We also made it possible for you to search for certain levels.
We had already made most of the technical aspects of the user levels, but the graphic was missing. So in this week we gave the user levels interface a makeover.
